Welcome to the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Seoul National University.
My name is Ryu, Honglim and I am the Dean of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. On behalf of the faculty and all staff members, I would like to thank you for your interest in our department.
Our Department is a union of the two departments, the Department of Political Science and the Department of International Relations, which have separately accomplished numerous achievements in academia and field for the past 70 years. Our union in 2010 highlights our effort to provide a broad and extensive research and education for our students in the areas of theory and reality, individual domestic politics, administration, economy, and society in tune with an era of globalization.

With the rise of diverse actors and transnational issues at the international stage, it is becoming increasingly critical to nurture individuals who can analyze and put both domestic politics and international relations into a perspective. Such skill has become increasingly important to mediate conflicts and provide viable solutions to problems in the world stage.

In this regard, our Department hopes to serve as an educational venue that educates such individuals capable of critically assessing various political and social phenomena that exist in our international society.
